SPITI - LADAKH TOUR - 11 Night 12 Days
Destination covered: Delhi—chandigarh—shimla—sarahan—sangla—chhitkul—tabo—kaza--kelong-
Jispa--sarchu—Leh.
Operational Period: 15th June to 30th September
Day 01: Delhi :- Flight: Arrive Delhi.
Meet on arrival and transfer to
hotel.
Day 02: Delhi/ Chandigarh/ Shimla:-
Shatabdi/ Coach: Early morning
transfer to railway station to board train for Chandigarh. Arrive
Chandigarh and drive to Shimla ( 2030m ). Met on arrival in Shimla and
transfer to hotel.
Day 03: Shimla/ Sarahan:- Jeep:
Morning after breakfast start jeep
safari to reach Sarahan (1920 m) via Narkanda (2690 m). Sarahan is a
beautifully located township amid mountains with Shrikhand Mahadev Peak
(5155 m) looming as a backdrop. Visit Bhimkali temple, a rare
combination of Buddhist and Hindu architecture. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 04: Sarahan/ Sangla:- Jeep:
Morning after breakfast start safari to
reach Sangla (2680 m). Arrive and camp on the bank of river Baspa.
Sangla has houses on a slope built one on another with Kinner Kailash
peak (6600 m) dominantly situated in the background. Overnight in camp.
Day 5: Sangla/ Chitkul Pass/ Puh:-
Jeep: Morning after breakfast start
safari to reach Sangla (2680 m). Arrive and spend some time over the
Sangla Pass to have panoramatic view of the surroundings. This pass
opens routes to Garhwal Himalayas. After lunch drive to Puh (3200 m).
Close to Tibetan border Puh lies in the rain shadow region. Overnight
stay in camp..
Day 6: Puh/ Kaza:- Jeep:
Drive to Kaza (3450 m). En route visit Tabo
Monastery (3200 m). It is an ordinary mud structure but inside it has
beautiful frescoes which earned Tabo the epithet of "Ajanta of
Himalayas". Reach Kaza stay in camp/ hotel.
Day 7: Kaza/ Kibber/ Batal:-
Jeep: Morning after breakfast visit Kyi
Monastery (4116 m/ 11 kms). This monastery of Spiti has rare paintings
and scriptures. The scriptures are written in Bhoti language, the mother
tongue of Bhotias who came from Tibet to Spiti to spread Buddhism in the
area. Further drive to Kibber village (4400 m/ 9 kms) the highest
village in the world. After lunch drive to Batal (3960 m) via Kunzum
Pass(4551 m). Arrive Batal in evening. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 8: Batal/ Jispa Jeep:
Morning after breakfast start safari to reach
Jispa. Stop just after Batal to photograph Bara Shingri Glacier (3657
m). En route visit Khardong Monastery at Keylong (3350 m). Keylong is an
"oasis of green fields". Reach Jispa in the evening and over night stay
in Jispa camp/ Hotel.
Day 9: Jispa / Sarchu:- Jeep:
Morning after breakfast continue the jeep
safari to reach sarchu via Baralacha Pass (4885 m). The pass has cross
roads from Zanskar, Ladhakh, Spiti and Lahaul. Reach sarchu in the
evening overnight stay in the camp.
Day 10: Sarchu/Leh:- Jeep:
Morning after breakfast start safari to reach
Leh (3523 m) via Kyungshu Plains for 45 kms. Enroute stop for a while at
Tanglang-la (5360 m), the highest pass in the world with metalled road.
Arrive and check into hotel for overnight stay.
Day 11: Leh:- Jeep:
Morning city tour visiting Sankar Gompa and Shanti
Stupa.
Day 12: Leh/ Delhi: Flight:
Morning after early breakfast transfer to
airport to board flight for Delhi. Met upoarrival and transfer to
international airport in time to board flight for onward destination
